Your Guide To Hosting Your Very Own Show On IR Radio

First, I want to start off by telling you, you don't need Intellectual Radio (IR) to produce your own radio show.
Modern technology has evolved so anyone with the drive and ambition can produce their own radio show.
Joining the IR radio team does have it's advantages. We are a community which strengthen our growth, making us stronger  than individuals.
When one promotes, he or she is promoting for all of us. Thus more listeners equals more sponsors and you know what that means.
What does it cost you to be a part of IR radio? $35.00 per show or $100.00 per month if we produce your show. ( That's 4 Episodes)If you produce it yourself or submit us your podcast for broadcasting on IR it's $10.00 per submission.
You don't even have to produce live broadcast. You can record your show whenever you like. We just strongly suggest you pick a time slot you think you will gather the most listeners. We will promote your show and air it in your time slot.
Our format will be something like that of NPR. We want every single show to be knowledge based. Your show should be informative and entertaining.
Everyone does not have what it takes to be and IR radio host. We only select people who we feel are engaging and have something to share.
So don't think every Tom, Dick, and Harry will  be on IR radio. You have U-Stream for that. IR Radio will stay true to it's name," Intellectual Radio.
Feed your Brain, A Place To Grow", that is IR Radio.

IR Radio is your station. Ustream.TV is your Producer and you are The Host. Me, I'm your Assistant. If you need anything I am here to assist.

First, you will need to set up an account on Ustream.TV, some of you may already have one. It's very easy and only takes about a minute to set up. If you do have one please create a channel just for IR Radio and use the name that you will be calling your show. Your page should have the IR logo on it as well as your offline screen photo. If you have a podcast that will work as well.

Once your channel is set up. In your spare time practice, you will need to practice. The more you practice the better you will get.
Let us know when your channel is set up and we can get the embedded codes we need for your show and archives.

Your Ustream Channel should  look like this with logos. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/get-up-today

These settings can be changed in your dashboard. Design and off air settings.
Now let's talk about how to create your show.

Also, you will need a mic. camera optional.

If you host your show at our Studio you don't need to set up an account on U-Stream. You will be using ours.

You may also purchase a USB handheld recorder and use that to record your show. You can email the file to me to air.

Just search for a USB Handheld Recorder.

IR Radio will be continuing it's growth to make our site more Host and User friendly, so expect changes every few weeks.

Now you are set up and ready to go. You are going to produce an one hour show. Your show does not have to be exactly one hour. It can be shorter or longer. We prefer at least an one hour show.

If you host live events just either stream live via your laptops and web-cam, videotape it or audio tape it.

We are here to assist with any question you may have on how to do this.

Your show must have a beginning, this is where you introduce your show.

You should say a little something about your show, the name of the show and broadcasting on INTELLECTUALRADIO.COM.

I recommend you write this down and put it near you when you are broadcasting.

Example.

Welcome to Street Stories, Bringing you stories that would normally never make it to television or radio.. I'm your host Earl Winfrey.

That would be your opening.

Now you can introduce your guest if you have any or talk about what this week's show will be about.

Every 15 minutes or so you need to do a station identification.

You are listing to Street Stories on INTELLECTUALRADIO.COM

You should also read your commercials if you have any every 15 minutes or so.

One hour may seem like a lot of time. It is if you just talk for an hour,  or listen to someone just talking for an hour.

This should not be the case. There should be well planned breaks throughout your show.

Station identifications, commercials, and just plain breaks where you may have a song play.

After your breaks you can always say something like, welcome back to the show. Today on the show we have____________
or are talking about__________.

Now don't worry we don't expect your first few shows to be perfect, however as you host more and more shows they will get better.

Practice reading and writing copy, (Radio Commercials) one is below that you can practice on.

Also try and put together a 15 second promo for your show. This is not mandatory but would help in promoting your show.

I am your assistant and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email.

Non of this is written in stone. It is your show. So do what you think will bring in more listeners.

$$$$$

We suggest you contact local businesses and tell them about your show.

This is easy just talk with the business you frequent, tell them you would like to do a free spot for them on INTELLECTUALRADIO.com.

Everyone likes free then after wards offer to do it for a small fee. As your show listeners increases, so will you fees and this is your money.

Have a sponsor?  We will help  put together a promo spot. What else do you need? Just let us know.

Welcome to INTELLECTUALRADIO. our success is your success.

Dead Air is the worst thing that a radio show can have. Dead Air is when there is total silence on the radio. Know that term and avoid it at all cost.
